Defying Anxiety
Today's the first day I have made it properly out,
I was nervous, excited and scared beyond reasonable doubt.
I knew I had to go with people invading my personal space,
to the theatre and watch the look on my nieces face.
To be a good adult and not show any fear
I know in the end I will enjoy being here.
It's all the trepidation at the start
I know I have to sit tight and be smart.
It'll soon be over and I'll be glad I tried
I will be able to be hold my head up high with pride.
Those witches of Oz belting out their songs
I know in the theatre I was meant to belong.
Fear has always crippled this dream
So here I sit as a spectator it would seem.
I'm out now the show was sublime
My niece and I had a wonderful time.
I'm glad I made the effort but I'm exhausted now
I'm hoping these things will become easier somehow.
